Install Process Runner in Citrix (XenApp)

This topic describes how to install Process Runner on a Citrix Server.

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft Excel: Install Microsoft Excel and ensure the application is available to all users.
  • SAP GUI: Install SAP GUI and make it available to users. (Required for Designer users and recommended for Run-Only users).
  • SAP GUI Logon Pad: Install the SAP GUI Logon Pad with all required SAP systems configured (via the saplogon.ini file).
  • Process Runner License: A special license is required to run Process Runner in a Citrix environment. If you don’t have a Process Runner Citrix license, contact: mag-innoweralicense@insightsoftware.com.

Install Process Runner

If Process Runner is already installed (whether active or expired), you can skip this section.

Download Process Runner

If you’ve already downloaded Process Runner, you can skip this section. If you are using an older version, we recommend downloading the latest version.

Install Process Runner

To install Process Runner, see Install Process Runner.

Note: Do not execute/launch Process Runner while the server is in install mode. If Process Runner is launched in install mode, it may cause errors for other users. To solve the issue, you need to delete specific registry entries. For more information, see:

Note: To prevent registry-based configuration issues, insightsoftware provides a configuration file named AppSetting.dat. Copy this file to the Process Runner application folder. For assistance or to request the file, contact insightsoftware Support.

Publish Process Runner in Citrix Server

This section explains how to publish theProcess Runner application in Citrix after installation.

  1. Open Citrix Access Management Console from Start > Citrix > Management Consoles.

  2. In the left pane, select the Applications section under XenApp > CitrixONE.

  3. In the middle pane, under Common Tasks, select New > Publish application.

  4. On the Welcome screen, select Next.

  5. Enter an application Display name and Application description. For example, use Process Runner Designer for designer users and Process Runner Run Only for run-only users. Select Next.

  6. On the Type screen, keep the default selection and select Next.

  7. On the Location screen, browse to ProR.exe and select Next. The Command line and Working directory fields populate automatically.

  8. On the Servers screen, select Add, choose the server where Process Runner is installed, and select OK.

  9. On the Users screen, select Add to assign access to users.

  10. In the Select Users or Groups window, double-click the top-level account authority. Select the users or groups, then select Add.

  11. Select Next after adding users.

  12. Review the settings and select Next again.

  13. Select Finish to complete the publishing process.

To verify the application:

  1. Open a web browser and go to the XenServer login page. Contact your IT administrator to get the correct URL.

  2. Sign in using your credentials and select Log On.

  3. The icon of Process Runner application appears. Select the icon to launch the application

Run Process Runner as Designer and Run-Only User in a System

You can run Process Runner as both a Designer and Run-Only user on the same system by using different licenses. After publishing the application, the Process Runner icon appears as shown in the example screenshot.

To manage and assign licenses, use the License Discovery file. This file helps Process Runner locate and assign the appropriate .license files to users at runtime.

Note:

  • If you’ve downloaded Process Runner but haven’t published it yet, see Publish Process Runner in Citrix Server for instructions.
  • When publishing, repeat the steps and ensure you enter a meaningful application display name to help users distinguish between versions.
  • Make sure to select the correct ProR.exe file from the appropriate working directory, especially for the Run-Only version.
