Manage Central Settings

Central Setting is the section from where admin can directly push the configuration settings of (Transaction, RFM/BAPI, Scripting, Data Extractor, Enterprise Setting, Excel, License) to all the users of the Process Runner and Process Runner Excel Add-in.

If the administrator want to restrict certain options or make them read only for a user, these settings can be applied and then assign to user or group.

To demonstrate the workaround of central setting, we have used Transaction Settings in the following section.

To add central settings and restrict transaction setting,

  1. Select Add.
  2. Enter Central Settings Name in text-box.
  3. Select one of the following restricted rules from Transaction Settings:
    • Do not apply: Indicates that the settings will not be applied in Process Runner.
    • Apply and do not allow user to change: Settings will be applied in Process Runner but user cannot modify the transaction settings.
    • Apply and allow user to change: Setting will be applied in Process Runner but user can modify the transaction settings.
  4. Select Activate & Save. The created central settings will be activated successfully. Following are the list of statuses with their indication:
    • Active: Indicates that the central setting is activate.
    • Active (Revised): Indicates that the central setting is been revised and needs to be activated.
    • Inactive: Indicates that the central setting is Inactive.
  5. Note: Once the central setting is created, ensure to activate the settings, as they will not get applied if the status remains inactive.

  6. Now expand Master Controls option on left pane and select Users.
  7. Select the user you wants assign the central setting.
  8. Scroll-down to Central Setting section, enable the central setting and assign the created rule to the user.

  9. Select Save.
  10. Now launch Process Runner and go to Tools > Option > Transaction tab. Now the authorization is set up for the corresponding user. Refer the image given below to see the changes reflected in Process Runner:

  11. If you choose to modify central settings in relation to a particular requirement, then the changes will be applied only when you perform some action such as Run the process file or open SAP shortcut, etc. Let's modify the transaction settings and assign it to same user.

  12. Select the central setting which needs to be modify and select Edit. Optionally, you can select edit icon given in Edit column.

  13. Select the other restricted rule from the Transaction Settings drop-down box.

  14. Select Activate & Save.
  15. Note: If the current setting is left as revised, then Process Runner will run as per the settings applied previously.

  16. The settings will be activated successfully.
  17. The revised settings will now be applied to the user assigned to this central setting.
  18. To reflect the changes in Process Runner, you will have to perform some action such as execute process file or open SAP shortcut, etc.
  19. Modification is done and applied successfully as shown below.

Expand the central settings to see the list of user/group to whom the central setting is assigned. Using the edit option, you can change the central settings or you can assign this central settings to other user/group.

Copy Central Settings

On occasion, it may be necessary for an administrator to copy a defined central settings to a number of users, which they will then be able to modify as required.

To copy the existing central settings,

  1. Select the central settings and select Copy Central Settings.
