What is Innowera Web and Mobile Server

InnoweraWeb and Mobile Server is a mobile solution that offers comprehensive, agile and powerful platform which is designed to build and deploy SAP Mobile Apps with simplicity depth and speed without any extracurricular infrastructure or writing extensive code. Web and Mobile Server platform also retains inbuilt off-line capabilities and on contrary it can be also hosted on Microsoft Azure, AWS HP cloud, and others.

Components of Web and Mobile Server

Innowera Mobile Platform consists of various components and  these work together and provides mobile as well as browser-based application platform that connect to SAP. In this section we will look into detailed information about each of the component.

Innowera Mobile Container App

  • Innowera Mobile container app allow user to use supported Android and iOS devices to connect with Innowera Web and Mobile Server.  
  • It works with Innowera Web and Mobile Server and is available for download on Apple Store and Google Play for free. The app can be searched with the name InnoweraApp.
  • InnoweraApp is designed to auto-sync with Mobile Process Apps from Innowera Web and Mobile Server. These process apps will be designed by customers using Process Runner and published on Innowera Web and Mobile Server. Once these process apps are published on Innowera Web and Mobile Server, the container app syncs in the background with Innowera Web and Mobile Server so that the user can consume them from the device. Example of Process App includes: Create Sales Order, Query Employee Record, Enter Time in SAP, Update Cost Center, Return Order, etc. The user can use lookup data to feed information in process apps while posting to SAP. Lookup data is configured in Innowera Web and Mobile Server. Process apps and data can be synced automatically in timely manner.  
  • Innowera container app offers offline capabilities for user to work offline and sync back to Innowera Web and Mobile Server when online. The app holds all the information within the container consisting its own internal mobile database.
  • Innowera container app is an out-of-the-box solution. Direct modifications to the container app is not possible. Customized version of the container app is available and can be distributed via App Store, Google Play or possibly customer's in-house MDM server. Updates to container apps are provided to Innowera customers under active maintenance.

Innowera Web and Mobile Server

Innowera Web and Mobile Server is core of Innowera Mobile Platform. Red outlined box in above image represents Innowera Web and Mobile Server. It acts as a mediator between Front-end platforms Web Browser, Mobile container app - and SAP as a back-end platform.

  • Innowera Web and Mobile Serveruses RESTful APIs to make RESTful calls to mobile and web applications and can also support web services. RESTful calls can be made from any other RESTful client. It is been hosted on Internet Information Server (IIS) with MS-SQL as backend database.
  • Multiple Innowera Web and Mobile Serverservers can be hosted to balance larger loads and can auto-sync all newly publish/import files from main Innowera Web and Mobile Server server when user logs in to the app. Certain components of Innowera Web and Mobile Server can be customized but core functionality remains intact.
  • Innowera Web and Mobile Server is can partially support SAP GUI scripts on web and has capability to send/receive data to/from SAP using standard RFC or SAP Gateway technology for Transaction and Data Extractor.

Web, Mobile and App Package

  • Web Application, Mobile Application and App Packages are the customizable components of Innowera Web and Mobile Server that can be changed based on customer's core business functionality.
  • Web application package consists of web application pages like Sales Order application, Material and Stock query, Workflow approval, etc. The web pages can be accessed by Innowera Web and Mobile Server users and can serve as web application.
  • Mobile application package consists of Mobile application pages that are compatible to mobile devices.
  • Web and Mobile application pages can be automatically built by Innowera Web and Mobile Server using Publish functionality. It uses standard technologies like HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, jQuery mobile, etc. These pages can be exported from IWMS and enhanced as per business requirement. For example, customer can insert business rules to Sales Order (mobile or web application) page and implement various functionalities like sortable grids or business roles.
  • Besides changing Web and Mobile application pages, customer can also implement changes that affects Innowera Container App. For example, if customer wants to query customer or vendor record from SAP and/or download latest material/price info when user logs into mobile app, such change can be implemented using JavaScript and published as App Package on Innowera Web and Mobile Server.
  • Updates made to Mobile and App Packages are automatically sent to mobile devices when they login to Innowera App.

Process Apps / Files

  • Process Runner files, that are designed using Process Runner, are scripts that automates various SAP Business Transactions. These process files are translated in Innowera Web and Mobile Serverto generate process apps.
  • Process app is an integral part of Web/Mobile application package. It consists of SAP fields and grids from a particular SAP transaction. It translates the data entered by the user and sends it to SAP for processing.

Features

Innowera Web and Mobile Server provides various facilities that make user's task easier and well managed. Below are some features with detail information.

  1. User Management:
    • Innowera Web and Mobile Server provides advanced interface to manage users. You can Add new users or perform updates or conduct remove operations to existing users.
    • You can configure user's access rights to the application. Also resection to certain feature can be applied using this feature. User needs individual rights to access application as well as various modules.
    • You can also insert as many number of users using User Bulk Insertion feature.
  2. Device Management
    • Innowera Mobile container App is bound to Innowera Web and Mobile Server. Mobile Devices are automatically registered to Innowera Web and Mobile Server whenever login request is made on mobile App.
    • Mobile devices needs to be approved from Innowera Web and Mobile Server to work with Innowera Mobile App. Devices can be approved automatically or manually to stop user a direct access to login into Innowera App.
    • Devices and its data can be managed from Innowera Web and Mobile Server without logging to the device. You can block any device from using Innowera App or can wipe out all data from device for the data security purpose if device is lost or no more in use.
  3. Logon Management
    • Authorized credential is a must to work with SAP from Innowera container app. You can define SAP Logon shortcut and store it in Innowera Web and Mobile Server, which will be used while logging into respective SAP System for processing.
    • The SAP Logon shortcuts can be configured for individual users or can be shared for group of users.
    • Innowera Web and Mobile Server has capability to accept MYSAPSSO2 ticket to login to SAP.
  4. Off-line Capabilities
    • User can work in offline mode in Innowera container app in case of network disconnection. The data is stored in device database in offline mode and eventually will be posted to server once the connection is established.
  5. Back Office Integration
    • In Innowera Web and Mobile Server, User can configure two stage communication with the Innowera container app where the user/admin can validate data before it is posted into SAP. This avoids fail call to SAP due to incorrect data.
    • Two stage communication constitutes of end-user sending a notification to one or more back office users for data validation and then back office users responding back with another notification to proceed accordingly. End users can attach notes as a part of notification.
  6. Lookup Management
    • End users can be further assisted by providing a lookup option while posting into SAP. Lookup is list of predefined data stored in SQL database/s. This can be configured and managed using Lookup Management.
    • Advanced filters can be applied to filter out specific data from the large set of data.
    • User level filter can be configure to provide particular user with limited or specific data.
  7. Web Service
    • Innowera Web and Mobile Server has the ability to integrate Web Service in any platform to execute Process file and upload/download data to/from SAP.

SAP Backend

  • Innowera Web and Mobile Server server receives data from various platforms and posts them to SAP System. SAP acts as backend for Innowera Web and Mobile Server.
  • Innowera SDK is a tool that communicates between Innowera Web and Mobile Server and SAP System. It logs into SAP system using SAP credentials and upload or download data to/from SAP.

SAP Design Tool Process Runner

  • Process Runner is the process designing tool to design various SAP business transactions. It consists of four technologies: Transaction, BAPI, Data Extractor and GUI Scripting. All these technologies can be used to generate scripts and consumed in Innowera Web and Mobile Server as process apps.
  • Process files / apps are generated using Process Runner.

Innowera Web Runner

  • SAP Processes can be executed directly from web browser using Innowera Web Runner.
  • It doesn't need SAP GUI to be installed on client side.
  • Data can be stored temporarily and can be posted at later time.
  • Web Runner supports all modules of Process Runner(Transaction/BAPI/Data Extractor/GUI Scripting).
  • SAP Inbox can be easily maintained. User can approve or reject any process request.
  • Look and feel of the web interface is customizable.
