Configure Archive Database Settings for Control Panel
You can configure the archive database settings using the Innowera Control Panel Database Configuration tool. You can perform a one-time archive or use the scheduler functionality to schedule archive tasks.
You can perform the following tasks:
- Create and schedule a task
- View, edit, or delete a scheduled task
To configure the database archive settings,
- In the Innowera Control Panel Database Configuration window, select Tools > Archival Configuration. The Archival Task windows appears.
- To configure the database server setting, perform the following steps:
- Select Configure. The Archival App Setting window appears.
- Enter your SQL Server Database credentials. Make sure that your SQL Server login is also assigned the sysadmin role in SQL Server Database.
- Select Configure. A message appears indicating that the settings have been configured successfully.
- Select New. The Create new task window appears.
- In the Basic Information section, enter the following details:
- Archive Name: Indicates the name of the archival task.
- Comment: Indicates additional information about the archival task.

Run task under user: Indicates the Windows domain name of the user who will run the scheduled task. If the user does not have the permission to run the scheduled task, perform the following steps:
- Open Local Security Policy. In the Local Security Policy window, go to Local Policies > User Rights Assignment. The different policies appear.
- Right-click Log on as a batch job, and select Properties. The Log on as a batch job Properties dialog box appears.
- Select Add User or Group, add the user, and then select OK. The user is added.
- In the Archival Configuration section, select one of the following options:
- Database: Indicates that the archive information will be stored in the database that you created at the time of configuring the Innowera Control Panel database using the tool.
- File: Indicates the file in which the archive information will be stored; select the format of the file in File Format and its location in Path. You can save the information as an XML, a CSV, or a TXT file.
- If you have selected File in step 5, perform the following steps:
- Make sure that
XPCmdShellEnabledproperty is enabled in Facets > Surface Area Configuration for the SQL Server Database on which Innowera Control Panel is installed. - Make sure that when the archive file has to be exported to a folder on the network and has to be run as scheduled task under a user, your system administrator has granted the user the required permission to access the folder.
- Optionally, to test the connection with the database or the path, select Test Connection or Test Filepath.
- In the Job Setting tab, perform the following tasks:
- Select the type of Innowera Control Panel logs that you want to archive. You can archive the product logs, Innowera Control Panel logs, and change logs.
- Select Archival Setting. The options become available in the Period Setting section.
- In the Period Setting section, select the period for which the logs must be archived.
- To perform the task immediately and only once, select Archive Now, and then select Yes. A message indicating that the database is successfully archived appears.
- To schedule a task, go to Scheduler > Trigger tab, and then perform the following steps:
- In Schedule Task section, select the scheduling type category from one of the following options:
- One Time: Indicates that the scheduled task will be run only once, on the scheduled day and time.
- Daily: Indicates that the scheduled task will be run daily, at the scheduled time.
- Weekly: Indicates that the scheduled task will be run weekly, at the scheduled time on the scheduled day or days.
- Monthly: Indicates that the scheduled task will be run monthly, at the scheduled time during the scheduled month or months. For a task that is scheduled to be run monthly, you must also select the day on which the task must be run.
Note: For a task that is scheduled to be run daily and weekly, you must also select the recurrence frequency at which the task must be run. For example, if you set 4 in the Recur every box for a daily task, it means that the task is run every four days.
- In Advanced Settings section, depending upon your requirement, select the following options:
- To repeat the task, select Repeat Task, and then select the following options.
- Every: Indicates how often the scheduled task must be repeated.
- Until: Indicates the time until when the task must be repeated.
- To stop all instances of the scheduled task that are running even when the deadline as indicated by Until is reached, select If the task is still running, stop it at this time. This option is useful if the scheduled task does not stop automatically.
- To end the task permanently, select the Expire Date Time, and then select the date and time. No more tasks will be run after the selected date and time.
- To repeat the task, select Repeat Task, and then select the following options.
- In Schedule Task section, select the scheduling type category from one of the following options:

To configure additional options that affect the behavior of the scheduled task, go to Scheduler > Settings tab, and then perform the following steps:
- In Scheduled Task Completed section, you can select the following options:
- Delete task if it is not scheduled to run again: Indicates that the task must be deleted from the computer's hard disk after the run, if it is not scheduled to run again. This option is useful for tasks that are scheduled to run only once.
- Stop task if it runs for: Indicates that the task must be stopped after it has run for a specified amount of time.
- To run a scheduled task immediately after the computer is turned on because a scheduled run was missed as the computer was turned off, select Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed in Scheduled Task Missed section.
- In Idle Time section, select Only start the task if computer has been idle for at least if the scheduled task must be started only if the computer has been idle for the specified period. You can also select the following options:
- Stop the task if computer ceases to be idle: Indicates whether the task must be stopped if the usage of the computer is resumed during the task run.
- If computer has not been idle that long, retry for up to: Indicates the duration that the scheduler checks to see if the computer is idle. If the computer has not been idle for that long, no occurrences of the task are run.
- In Power Management section, perform the following tasks:
- Don't start task if computer is running on batteries: Indicates that the scheduled task must not be started if your computer is running on battery power. Some programs frequently access your hard disk, which drains the batteries faster. You can extend the life of your batteries by selecting this option.
- Stop task if battery mode begins: Indicates that the scheduled task that is in progress must be stopped if the computer starts running on battery power.
- Wake the computer to run the task: Indicates that the computer will be turned on to wake state to run the task at the scheduled time, even if the computer was earlier in sleep mode.
- Select Create Task. A message indicating that the task is successfully created appears and the scheduled task is displayed in the Archival Task window.
- If you want to edit or delete a scheduled task, select the task, and then select Edit or Delete in the Archival Task window.
