Configure EShare Database
After you run the Innowera EShare setup, you must configure the database. The Innowera EShare Database & Service Configuration window allows you to create an EShare configuration file which can be used by Process Runner, Process Runner DB, and Process Runner Excel Add-in users to connect to Innowera EShare Service/API.
Make sure that your database administrator has granted you the required rights to configure the EShare Database using the setup.
To configure EShare Database,
- Double-click the Innowera EShare Database and Service Configuration icon on the desktop of the server computer where EShare is installed. The Innowera EShare Database & Service Configuration wizard appears.
- Select Innowera EShare Database Settings to configure the database settings. The Innowera EShare Database Configuration window appears. The X icon represents that the Innowera EShare database settings are not configured, and therefore no connection has been established with the database.
- Configure the database in the Innowera EShare Database Configuration window. When the same computer is used for reinstallation or upgrade, the information such as the database server name and database name of the EShare Database that was already in use are populated.
- In the Database Server Setting section, enter the following details of the Microsoft SQL Server database.
- Server: Indicates the instance name or IP address of the server computer where SQL Server is installed. For example, 192.168.xxx.xxx.
- Database: Indicates the name of the database. INW_PRDB is the default database name, which you can modify.
- Authentication: Indicates the authentication method that will be used to connect to the SQL Server instance. If SQL Server Authentication is selected, you must provide a valid user name and password to connect to the SQL Server in the Username and Password fields. We recommend that you use SQL Server Authentication when making connection to the SQL Server. To use Windows Authentication, add the required Windows domain user who can access the SQL Server where Innowera EShare database is installed and provide that Windows Domain user with required level of access to Innowera EShare database.
- Connection Timeout: Indicates the connection timeout (in seconds) after which the trial session of trying to connect to the database will expire. For example, if Connection Timeout option is enabled and set to 30 seconds, Eshare will try to establish the connection with the configured database for 30 seconds only.
- Command Timeout: Indicates the time to wait while trying to run a command before terminating the attempt and generating an error.
- Optionally, to test the connection to the database using the connection details provided, select Test Connection .
-
In the Select Action section, select one of the following options:
- Create/Update Database only: Indicates that the database and its objects will be created or updated.
- Create/Update Database and Tag definition: Indicates that the database and its objects with tags will be created or updated.
- Maintain Tag Definition Only: Indicates that any existing tags that were previously created are maintained; else a new one is created. Tags help to store predefined free text for each of the scripts/files stored on Innowera EShare database. You can then sort, filter, or group using these tag values. For example, you can maintain “Department” as Tag1 and maintain department value in this tag to indicate which department owns the script. You can have “Incident#” as Tag2 and can maintain ticket number for the given file if that file was created for an incident. Five different tags (Tag1 to Tag5) are provided. By default, these tags are not activated. Tags can be defined or edited later using the same EShare Database setup program. Only the owner of the file can maintain the tag values.
- To reset the default password of EShare Admin, select Reset Admin Password, set the password as required, and then select OK.
- Select Map Database to update current database settings in the EShare service path.
-
Select Create/Modify Database. The Innowera EShare database is created and configured.
