Process Runner Excel Add-in File Read Error

Symptom

When you run a ready-to-run Excel template or an embedded Process file, Process Runner Excel Add-in may not be able to read the extension of the file. Instead, the following error message is displayed.

Could not read <NameOfProcessFile>. Please close this file and try again or for further assistance, please create a support case on Salesforce.

Cause

This issue occurs when the embedded Process file or ready-to-run Excel template is corrupted.

Solution

Perform the following steps:

1. Change the extension of the file from .xlsx, .xls, or.xlsm to .zip.
2. Select Yes and proceed when renaming the extension.
3. Extract the compressed file and select xl > embeddings folder. The embeddings folder contains the object file.
4. Rename the object file to original format of the file. For Example, .itf in case of Transaction file, .iff in case of BAPI, .ite in case of Data Extractor file, and .isf in case of GUI Scripting file.
5. Select Yes.
6. Open the Process file in Process Runner Excel Add-in and run.
