Export or Import Rules, Queries, and Database Connections
The Data Governance Rules, Queries and Database Connections can be exported or imported to or from local system. They are exported or imported in .XML format. When Selected Rules are imported or exported to or from local system, all its related queries and database connections are also exported or imported along with it. In case if Queries are exported or imported to or from a local system, all its related database connections are also exported or imported accordingly. This section will provide guidelines to export or import Rules with its related Queries and Database Connections.
To export Rules with its related Queries and Database Connections,
- Go to Rules from the expanded options of Data Governance.
- Select the Rule(s) which are to be exported.
Note: Multiple Rules can also be exported in one single .XML file.
- Select Export.
- Provide an Export File Name in Export Data Governance Rules window.
- Select Export.
- Save the file.
The same procedure can be followed to export Queries and its related database connections and standalone Database Connections.
To import Rules with its related Queries and Database Connections,
- Go to Rules from the expanded options of Data Governance at the left pane.
- Select Import.
- Browse the .XML file of Data Governance Rules on local system. Selecting the .XML file will load data and display it in the grid as shown in the image below.
- Select appropriate actions from the drop-down menu for the data in the grid by referring to the table given below.
Options Description Skip
This option is displayed only if the loaded data already exist. Selecting this option will not import the data.
Overwrite
This option is displayed only if the loaded data already exist. Selecting this option will overwrite the existing data with the data loaded from the .XML file.
Overwrite action is irreversible.
Create
This option is displayed only if the loaded data is new and does not pre-exist. Selecting this option will create the new Rule/Query/Database Connection.
- Select Import.
The same procedure can be followed to import Queries and its related database connections and standalone Database Connections.
